Pinyin & more

Real-time captions and translation on any video, on any website. 60+ languages — and Chinese gets Pinyin plus a tap-a-word dictionary.

The extension is free · Bring your own Soniox key (pay-as-you-go, ~12¢/hr)

What makes it different

It builds the captions from the audio itself — so it works even when a video has no subtitles at all. You're not limited to a platform's official captions (YouTube, Netflix…) or to a subtitle file you load by hand: if there's sound, it can caption and translate it, live.

What you get

How it works & what it costs

Speech-to-text and translation are powered by the Soniox API. You bring your own Soniox key, so you only ever pay Soniox directly — pay-as-you-go, currently about US$0.12 per hour of audio (new accounts may get free starter credits). Creating a key takes a minute, with a link and steps inside the extension's guide.

To save credits, it automatically pauses the connection during silence and reconnects when sound returns. Your key is stored only in your own browser — nothing of yours is kept on any server.
